  • State of the Network: July 2025

July was a standout month for the Swarm network, delivering the highest increase in rewards we’ve seen in a long time. Total rewards, average payouts, and median wins all climbed sharply — and with fewer nodes actively staking, those who did participate enjoyed significantly larger individual payouts.

  • Monthly Development Update – July 2025

In July, the Bee team released Bee 2.6.0, drastically reducing node spin-up times and improving the onboarding experience. The Research team also reached a significant milestone with the completion of the BeePort app, which allows users to pay for storage on Swarm from other chains. A revision of the entire incentives and staking structure is also underway, following community proposals.

  • Bee Version 2.6.0 Goes Live!

Bee v2.6.0 brings faster than ever startup times (~10x faster!) so you can get busy uploading and downloading from Swarm in just a couple minutes.

  • State of the Network: June 2025

The June 2025 edition of the State of the Network report presents an overview of key activity and performance metrics across the Swarm network. These figures provide insight into node participation, reward distribution, and geographic activity throughout the month.

  • Monthly Development Update – June 2025

In June 2025, the Bee Track took a pause to rethink its entire testing strategy after an unexpected delay to the 2.6 release. Meanwhile, the Bee and Research Tracks continued their collaborative work on the SWIP for pullsync protocol improvements and made notable progress on the in-browser node project.

    Development updates

  • State of the Network: May 2025

May saw a modest rebound in xBZZ-denominated rewards and node participation compared to April. Although some metrics remained below their earlier peaks, the network demonstrated signs of stabilization.

  • Monthly Development Update – May 2025

Node onboarding became even faster—nodes now spin up in under 5 minutes thanks to improved warm-up logic and postage snapshot support. The in-browser node project kicked off, spearheaded by Pavel with the Bee team’s protocol-level support, initially focused on WebSocket integration and more.

    Development updates

  • State of the Network: April 2025

April saw a return to declining xBZZ-denominated rewards and node participation, reversing the brief rebound observed in March. However, it is important to note that this apparent downturn coincided with a near 100% increase in the fiat price of BZZ.

    Development updates

  • Monthly Development Update – April 2025

In April 2025, the Bee Track focused on deeper network insight and faster node onboarding ahead of the 2.6 release. Swarmscan is now richer with new metrics that track upload/download performance, retrieval efficiency, and node responsiveness—giving a clearer picture of how the network behaves in real time.

  • Feeling Cute. Might Delete It Later? The Challenge of Deletion and Swarm’s DREAM Solution

Swarm introduces an innovative solution called DREAM (Deletion by Revoking Encryption Access for Mutable resources), which tackles deletion not by physically erasing data, but by ensuring data becomes completely inaccessible once deleted.

    Development updates

  • State of the Network: March 2025

March data shows a notable change in network metrics, with total-network rewards increasing significantly compared to February, marking the first such increase in the last several months. This shift occurs alongside a continued decrease in active staking nodes. The combination of increased total rewards and fewer active nodes has resulted in significantly higher per-node rewards this month compared to recent months.

    Development updates

  • Monthly Development Update – March 2025

In March 2025, the Bee Track focused on improving upload and download efficiency with Release 2.5, including optimisations to the pusher, pushsync protocol, and peer routing.

    Development updates

  • State of the Network: February 2025

With February now complete, network trends indicate continued stabilization. While total rewards declined slightly, the rate of decrease remained moderate, suggesting incentive dynamics are nearing equilibrium. Corresponding to the drop in active nodes, the average earnings per node saw a slight increase.

    Development updates

  • Monthly Development Update – February 2025

In February, the Bee Track invested significant effort into improving the performance and efficiency of Bee, with teams working on version 2.5.

  • Bee Version 2.5.0 - Pre-release Notice

We're excited to announce that Bee v2.5.0 will be released in less than two weeks on March 11th! This update focuses on improving Bee node performance, reducing operational costs, and enhancing network stability.

    Development updates

  • State of the Network: January 2025

January data reflects a trend towards greater stability, with many metrics remaining roughly in line with those of the previous month. While rewards did continue to decrease, the rate of decrease has slowed significantly, and network participation from nodes remains relatively stable, reflecting continued dedication to the network.
